Mein Freund, der Baum hat wieder die Jahrescharts der wichtigsten musikjournalistischen Medien ausgewertet. Im Einzelnen waren das die Redaktions- und Leser/Hörercharts folgender Medien: Musikexpress, Rolling Stone, Spex, Intro, Visions, Zündfunk (Bayern 2), Der Ball ist rund (HR 3), laut.de, FM4 (ORF) und Plattentests online. Für jeden 1. Platz in den Einzelcharts gab es 20 Punkte, für den 2. Platz 19 Punkte, für den 3. Platz 18 Punkte usw. bis hin zu 1 Punkt für den 20. Platz. Bei den Alben konnten so maximal 300 Punkte geholt werden, bei den Singles 280 Punkte.
